Screen printing is the lifeblood of any print shop, and we have prioritized it accordingly, but just in case you don’t already know...
WHAT IS SCREEN PRINTING?
Screen printing is an ancient, though much-advanced craft by which ink is transferred to a garment using a stencil and a mesh screen. The stencil—as the name implies—blocks out those areas of the mesh screen through which ink should not pass. The dying agent is pressed through the mesh screen onto the garment, creating a durable print. Are you imagining Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Diptych right now? Good, you paid attention in “Art Appreciation,” but that’s not how we do it here at Phantom Print Shop. Times have changed since 1962. Today, major printers use state-of-the-art screen printing equipment. Ours, for instance, has a 10-screen station press to ensure that high-volume orders are printed to the highest industry standards.
BENEFITS OF SCREEN PRINTING
Screen-printed designs are rich in detail, vibrant in hue, and will not fade over time, giving it a competitive edge over patterns applied with heat. There is also a wide array of fabrics to consider and the inks to combine: glow-in-the-dark ink, metallic ink, neon and fluorescent colors, discharge ink, water-based inks, and many more. You can create a truly unique, eye-catching design and, with the precise placement of screen printing, specify its exact location on the garment down to the exact millimeter.
